Best local products & more...

The kitchen team at the Bergland is led by head chef Hannes Schwaiger, who has a passion for local recipes and local ingredients. This is reflected in the food and guests can look forward to their stay in the Ötztal – from our healthy and hearty breakfast buffet to our traditional afternoon snack in summer and gourmet meals and themed buffets in the evening.

We are aware that some of our guests have special dietary requirements. Please do not hesitate to tell a member of staff about your specific needs. Our team of chefs will be happy to take them into account.

The good thing at the Hotel Bergland is that most of the produce served to you on your plate comes from the surrounding area. That includes mountain cheese made on the valley's dairy farms, special pine schnapps, homemade bread, fresh milk and tasty meat. Bon appétit!

From Pasture to Plate

Your host, Sigi Grüner, is a member of the Austrian Sheep Breeding Association and a farmer who loves his flock of mountain sheep. “Good lamb meat only comes from animals that are fed well. Grazing on the pastures of the Ötztal with their alpine herbs as well the drying, processing and storage of the hay makes a big difference," explains Sigi. Taste the difference yourself at the Hotel Bergland!

Decisive for the quality of the meat is the diet of the animals. The abundance of herbs they find in the meadow and in the hay play a role here.
